El esperadísimo tercer álbum de los Arctic Monkeys llegó con cambio de look de Alex Turner incluido. Ahora porta una larga melena, dejando atrás al chiquillo británico con cara de hooligan que conocimos. Pero no sólo fue el vocalista de la banda quien cambió su apariencia. Mucho más que eso. La banda hizo un disco muy diferente a “Whatever People Say That I Am, That’s What I’m Not” y “Favourite Worst Nightmare”. Por un lado dejaron a un lado los riffs pegajosos que se quedaban en la mente por años y años, para dar paso a un sonido más “maduro”; las guitarras en lugar de ser frenéticas y divertidas ahora están en su etapa de saturación, sin llegar a shoegazear. Y algo muy notorio es el clavado que se avientan a la psicodelia, como en el tema “Dance Little Liar”.
Dicho cambio parece haber sido para bien: “Crying Lightning” y “My Propeller” son dos muestras de que estos ingleses se están tomando más en serio su trabajo y parece que van por buen camino.
